A sad time

We are back at the opal mine...hubbys best friend of 22 years died on Saturday on his way to visit us.....life has been extremely busy the last few weeks...tis nice to sit in the quiet and listen to the kids playing...the scuffle of small feet on the opal dirt...the gentle rumble of the generator.... but our fun adventures opal mining will never be the same....the morning coffees..listening to the long talks about machinery and men stuff...no longer...we will all miss you Tony very  very much....Saturday...our lives changed....we lost a little part of of our hearts.....

Morris Hexathon 2016

Ive decided to join in on the fun of Morris Hexathon 2016, held by Barbara Brackman and Becky Brown (the fussy cutting queen).

I love English Paper Piecing and I just cant resist. I have a fat quarter bundle of Barbaras 'Old Cambridge Pike' which I bought for The Splendid Sampler and haven't used it yet. It starts May 7 and appears on Barbaras blog every Saturday for 26 weeks.... Who would like to join me????

Tis just what I need another project. This past week I've been trying to prepare blocks from my 'Old Time Kaleidoscope BOM' to take with me next week.

The whole family is heading to Royal Far West for a week of appointments, schooling and I hope some family fun.

OPAM and a little bit more....

The month of April has flown by, school holidays, respite and a new addition. But...I did manage to finish one item completely this month, so I can only add one item to Peg and Kris's OPAM ( one project a month)..but I have a tick, yay!

Tis a new pattern release but of course I still need to finish the matching pillow.... Love working with ric rac lately...who knew lol... This has been in the works for a while, but I keep getting distracted ...

I think I'm a little addicted to Shiralee Stitches's Old Time Kaleidoscope BOM...I've prepared blocks 3, 4 and almost finished 5 as we are away next weekend for a week, so I will need plenty of hand sewing to keep me busy!!

I love Sandys pics demonstrating the fussy cutting...wasn't really a fan when the BOM started, but after Nundle and seeing the beautiful Lucy Boston and OTK blocks, I couldn't say no!..

Our house has been full since we came home from the Opal Mine...we have had 2 sets of kids for respite and last week we welcomed  a  cute 3 year old girl.....part of my sewing time is now replaced with bathing babies dolls, drawing and cups of tea (sand and water with a bit of grass lol).
