I have to show you my lovely pincushion I received in the GDITC pincushion swap. My pincushion was made by the lovely Dawnie.

We all struggled with our EPP pincushions, it was the first time a lot of had worked with apple cores.  Maree from On my Verandah received my pincushion.

We also had to make a name tag and Sue Daley was the judge for the best one. In the end three of us ended up winning yay!!! My prize was a 'Lily and Will II' layer cake by Moda.

DS met me at the door when I returned from the weekend away. He gave me a parcel he had in his room for the last couple of days...sigh... inside was were gorgeous hexis from Melody, as part of the "Inchy Hexagon Swap". I got spoilt, as I also received some reproduction fabrics and a scissor fob.....thank you Melody!!!!!

I will have to start to put together the hexagons I have received the last six months in this swap. Hmm what layout will I use??

More adventures of Peg n Dale

Peg and Dale were unable to join us in person this weekend .....we missed them so! So these two "chooks" are filling in for them.....(see here and here for more adventures..........)

I found these two attacking all the nibbles....

And after shooing them away, I later caught them drinking the rest of the champers!!! Bad chooks....

I think these two forgot where they were as we kept finding them laying choccie eggs all over the cabin.....

We knew it was time for bed when we found that they had found their roost for the night...

Last time I saw this pair, they waved to me from the back window of Lise's car, the cheeky buggers so I guess they are now on their way to Melbourne......

GDITC Nundle...Its Carnival is Over

Very sad to say the weekend is over, but excited that I had such a WONDERFUL time at "The Girls Day in the Country" hosted by Cottage on the Hill in Nundle NSW. It was a weekend filled with Good Food, Great Company, and English Paper Piecing.

Our bag was filled with lots of goodies....

We had two projects to work on .. and I can now finally do EPP clamshells YAY!!

I had three gorgeous roomies ( seated L to R), Lorraine ( Granny Loz), Lise ( the chocolate cat) and Tracey ( ozcountryquiltingmum).... Ohh and Miss Chookyblue, who is always up for a photo op...

I made some lovely new friends, Dawnie (itching for stitching) and Suzie...

Sue Daley presented her beautiful quilts and of course I had to buy most of the patterns... which is no surprise to those who know me...

A final goodbye, the last of us at 9.30am this morning about to do the short and long treks home...I would like to thank all the wonderful ladies who attended for the laughter, tears ( Hello Cardy and Belinda!!!) and blossoming new friendships.. will post more pics tomorrow, and my adventures with "Peg and Dale"

Its been a busy week, sewing, writing, getting things organised for my weekend away to Nundle **insert smiley face here**. I cant show you my swap item or name tag for the "Girls Day in the Country" that I have been working on, but, I can say its an English paper pieced pincushion...its an EPP shape I havent used before and dont think Ill be rushing to use it again lol

I have also been madly making these Robot and Rocket blocks for a new design, which I will hopefully finish after the weekend! Am loving this one, tis quick and easy to sew and I love the bright colours ( yes i know.. the pic doesn't do the colours justice!). DH has a good camera, but mines soo easy to plug into the puter...I have two other robot blocks and the centre block to applique... a night or two of stitching, then I will be able to piece it all together...

I do love it when I can finally finish a project!!

Tales of the Turon River

I woke up this morning to discover the Turon River is flowing faster and stronger than yesterday, DH moved the caravan earlier this morning from the campsite on the property...just in case....

The Turon river borders 2kms of our property and our house sits high on a hill so we are safe. This picture shows a raging river where as normally from this angle we can see a small stream which is no more than a foot deep in places, with lots of deep waterholes further on.

Our immediate 5 acres surrounding the house is fenced. The above photo is deceiving, due to the angle of which it was taken. As you walk out of this gate tis a steep walk down to the river.

We took a drive to see if we are cut off and yep, the river had finally gone over the road.

It had gone down as you can see outside the window of the car, where the water level had risen too overnight.

So I guess Miss 8 isnt going to a birthday party today....

This pic is one of the local campsites "Wallaby Rocks". The complete camping area is under water. fingers crossed with all the rain forecasted for March that I am able to attend "GDITC" in Nundle NSW.

A big 'stay safe' to all my blogging friends in flood affected areas. My thoughts are with you.
