Slow Cooker Recipe Weekend

Im joining in on Chookyblues Slow Cooker Recipe Weekend. I made a Beef and Mushroom casserole last night in the slow cooker was soo yummmm. I have a few quick recipes that the kids love, but this one is a favourite at the moment. ( ok ok this isnt a pic of mexican chicken but looks yum anyway lol)

Mexican Chicken

1kg chicken thighs fillets
I can corn kernals
2 jars of your favourite salsa
I cup of cream
2- 3 torn tortillas ( not necessary but it does taste like dumplings yum)

Mix all together and cook on high for 3-4 hours or 6 hours on slow. Sprinkle with parsely and grated cheese .

We have a few little visitors this weekend, so its lasagna tonight and baked dinner tomorrow...incase they are fussy eaters....

A new beginning

I had a wonderful day yesterday, with family giving our last face to face goodbye to my daughter and her little family. DG2 kept telling me how he was going to go on a BIG plane to his new house and how I was allowed to come and see his new house. IM soo excited for them as a family. I was given this beautiful picture as a present from my grandsons.

I would like to thank all my wonderful blogger friends for their kind words from the last few posts Ive made. I am excited for them and to ensure I get the best skyping possible, a new broadband satelitte is being installed today, giving an even faster speed and more gigs.

My website is down again, the hosting company are now moving to a brand new server, so hopefully it will be online soon **sigh**

On a brighter note, Im having the girls over for our weekly sewing day today. Usually I travel to Bathurst but one of the girls need a trailer of wood, so the men will cut wood (hubby will cut, boys will load), whilst the girls sew...sounds perfect to me lol. Just need to make a hug pot of pumpkin soup and maybe some fresh bread.....time to get busy!!

Mug Rug Swap

I have been a little busy with swaps, heres a sneak peek of Quilting Mummas Mug Rug swap. My partner is overseas so I am unable to show you until shes received it

I also received my April inchy hexagons this week. Thank you to Janet from Canada, they will be a lovely addition to my garden

We are headed to Sydney today for my daughter's family farewell lunch. Tis a very sad day, but I know her little family is on an exciting new chapter of their lives. I will also have the new destination of Perth for my holidays, I wonder how many quilt shops they have there!!

Simple Dinners

I received the new Donna Hay 'Simply Dinners' cookbook today, no parcels full of fabric thou **sigh**

Its filled with lots of quick n easy yummy dinners. I plan my meals, to make shopping easier..I dont allocate them to a day, but always have a list of 14 meals and the ingredients ready to cook them each fortnight... I need to be a tad organised at home, if I want to sew lol...I always try and cook a few meals new each fortnight as well as our old favourites..a favourite at the moment is Nigellas, spanish chicken with chorizos. Not good for the hips but satisfying for the cold nights we seem to be having, so hoping this book will give me more 'simple' dinners to add to my menu.

Folk Art Flowers

Folk Art Flowers, a pillow and table runner set from the frog cottage range is in the latest issue of Creating Country Threads Vol 12 No 12.

The set was made from a leftover jelly roll and is a quick and easy project. I do love the muted country colours....

Ask me about my Fabric stash

I have been a tad naughty, but building a fabric stash for my retirement is my main priority as time is short...( I only have 20 more years to build it!!). Heres what was waiting for me on my return from holidays....

Some of the gorgeous French General 'Petite Odile' fat quarters for an EPP quilt and charm packs to finish my clamshells which I will make into a cushion from GDITC Nundle ...

French General Paniers de Fleurs, jelly roll, layer cake and yardage for another EPP project

Friendship charm squares and a Tradewinds layer cake....

Some Bunny Hill yardage to compliment my Ohh La La charm squares...

And finally some yardage to compliment my Aqua and Red fat quarter bundle....

The Ohh La La and Michael Millers Aqua and Red bundles are for two new frog cottage designs 'kids quilts'. So technically they are not for the stash... I need to complete the these quilts, then I can start some new projects ...Yes Dawnie....In my Garden will be one of the them!!!!!

We need a home

Meet "Henry" (4) Pure Bred Yellow Labrador and "Wilson" Black Boxador (2), Father and Son looking for a warm and caring family to live with. Free to a good home.

Our parents are moving interstate and have exhausted all efforts and resources to cater for us it is with deep regret that they need to find us a new home to live. Ideally we would love to stay together as we are not only related, we are best mates. We are trained to sit, wait, only do our business on grass and sit and wait for our command to start eating together without any issues. We are both not de-sexed, we are vaccinated, wormed and micro-chipped. We love to play together during the day, and really look forward to walks and rides in the car to go run in the park.

We love kids and we would never hurt a fly! Henry loves going for dips in his pool in summer, Wilson prefers the hose.

If you are a family with a decent grassed backyard, and/or if you are someone that can't take both of us, but know a friend or family member that could take the other so we could meet up on weekends to play, our parents would love to hear from you. We will come with our kennels, beds, bowls, etc. Currently residing in St Clair, NSW.

My daughter is moving to Perth and hasnt been able to find a new family for her precious boys. If you are able to find Henry and Wilson a new home, please leave a comment and I will contact you with all the details.

Cheers
Deb

Ill take some pics tomorrow, Ive been up since 2am and my poor little eyes are saying its "bed time". Tis good to be home, can't wait to get back to my sewing :)

Quilt top is done

At last its done.........

My little grandsons went home to Mummy and Daddy on Sunday, and the kids are back at school; so I've been madly trying to complete my "Robots and Rockets" quilt top... Ive added a few planets and stars to the corner edges of the quilt; which were not in the original draft, therefore MORE stitching.

This little robot is sooo happy the top is finished too....

I did a quick iron and now its time for a cuppa before I set up the quilting table. I think I will do a large stipple with a star here n there, something simple as the quilt top is very busy with colour.

There is only four more days till we fly out to Fiji. I still have to complete this month and last months (shhhh) inchy hexagons flowers and prepare some items to stitch for two more swaps due at the end of this month..... sigh...there is no rest for the wicked!!

Happy Stitching
