Fabric...fabric...fabric

This week I've been a tad naughty. I bought a few old B&C Layer Cakes and some French General Rural Jardin fat quarters on one of those bad destash pages .. I swear I have no self control. ... I also caught up with the lovely Carol from Cherry Pie Designs at the Orange Craft Alive yesterday...where more yummy fabrics were purchased...
I did NEED more pinks for my Modablockheads stitchalong but the yellows ...well they were an impulsive buy lol

I have been good trying to prep each day so I can just pick up my hand sewing at Tutoring or while at other appointments...this week Ive been concentrating on my Stonefield's quilt...and I've fallen in love all over again...

'
Ät Tuesday Sewing group I found this uncompleted Old Time Kaleidoscope block to work on......

I listened to the Gnome Angels podcast on Sew Modern something this morning and what came across clearly whilst she was being interviewed was to 'find your passion' and just go for it....I'm glad Ive found mine...

A little break.....

Hubby and I have just returned from a week at Treasure Island, Fiji.. Our first ever holiday without the kids.....we had a great time, we both snoozed a bit the first two days lol
I read 3 books, hubby on his snorkelling travels got footage of a reef shark and a gorgeous turtle... I stopped snorkelling after that  and just swam .."

Beachcombers Island was close, but too far to swim .....not we are back into the routine again, doctors, tutoring, counselling and sewing..arghhh the sewing ....

Disney on Ice

My girls big and small all had a lovely "girls only" last weekend. We all had such a great time.... We plan to do the same next year... shhh dont tell the boys lol

With some encouragement from a small facebook group I jumped on the Fancy Forest stitch along. This quilt was going to be my major years project lol... Even as I'm writing this I'm laughing...I cant make only one thing hehehehehe...

I love the way Elizabeth Hartman has written her pattern, so clear and organised. I have a hedgehog and a thistle all cut out, waiting to be sewn today....maybe....
its our annual Christmas in July Trivia Night this weekend, which is a major money earner for our little school ( ten pupils)...and with only a few parents involved, there is a lot of work, as we provide a 4 course Christmas dinner and trivia night for approximately 100 people.

Happy Christmas In July

A new space. ...

Ohh dear... the joys of blogger... I was about to write a post about my weekend adventures and "woe is me " my last post didnt publish grrr plus I havent really been online checking emails...so I didnt notice..
This was a quick post about my new sewing space......
A few years ago I lost my sewing room to Mr10. alot was packed away and our lounge room was rearranged to cater to my "stuff"....I kept explaining ( complaining) to hubby that I cant achieve anything as everyone used my tables as a dumping ground or were jumping on my puter or changing my chairs to different heights (gas lift)...very annoying....
We do have a 2bdrm cottage not too far from our house which used to be a B&B when I bought years ago...but we use it now for family and friends when visiting...so I didnt think I could be creative in that space lol

One day hubby rang me and said he had a found a caravan which had been gutted and he suggested we buy it for my new space....Hubby re did the walls, painted, laid a new floor, installed fluro lights and built me a huge work table at one end and boxed the other end for storage....
So ta da.... Im in...I couldnt wait for him to replace the windows...the caravan slat windows will be replaced by nice big windows......I moved in just before the school holidays so have only had a few hours here n there to play....the kidlets all go back to school in 2 days!! Hehehehe

Sydney Quilt show 2017

What a great day! On Friday I met up with Sonia and explored the show...we caught up with a lot of friends throughout the day.

We ended the day with a few gin and tonics and enjoyed a lovely dinner at Cyrens Darling Harbour with Sonia, Chooky, Fairygirl, Lynda and Julie ( Chooky took a group shot which I will steal later). The Cassillis girls joined us for a quick gin and tonic (blame Lea)  before they headed off to dinner. Was lovely catching up with you all!

Started a new kit from Sarah Fielke whilst having a rest by the water before tackling the last hour of the show

We looked everywhere for this gorgeous mini by Susan of Thimblestitch, it was soo small. I forgot she used 1/4 hexis. Congrats on your place.

You know who the this is?????  the creative works of Rachel from Blue Mountain Daisy.

I joined the many people touching the black to see if it was one quilt lol shhh no touching lol. It was three quilts...just gorgeous!!! Congrats Rachel!!

Ok I did buy a few kits from Annis...

And many things from Sarah Fielke...the Alice fabric was from Verandah...I bought it to make my centre on Sarahs BOM Down the Rabbit Hole....

I am using my new apple pincushion in Sarahs new range Word Play... I also bought some reproduction fabric from Cherry Pie Designs, always nice to see Carol....

I have been embroidering my new stitchery each night...but today I need to move into my new sewing space as its ready...yay!!!! I see a major destash coming in the next few weeks...

A big thank you to Miss Sonia for a lovely relaxing day out!!!

Catching up....

First off I'd like to wish Chookyblue a Happy 5th Birthday for the Chookshed!!! looks like you all had a wonderful weekend full of laughs, sewing, friendship and gin lol

My hubby is away so, what do I do???? why sew of course!!!! I've been playing catch up on my Modablockheads sew along... When my puters were in sick bay, I fell behind.....but I made six blocks over the weekend...whilst watching endless kids movies and watching the kidlets play (fightover) the wii. It's been really cold here so the kids were hibernating inside...which suited me fine.....

EDIT: I had six pics but blogger ate two grrr

I enjoyed the splendid sampler last year...so this year it's Moda blockheads and I have a pink reproduction theme happening.. Will get back to my Sarah Fielke BOM 'Down the Rabbit hole' this week, as Im a little behind there too lol

Endless Wrap

I saw the Endless Wrap on Instagram and omg I had to make it!!!  I received my bundle on Wednesday and of course started knitting. I bought the wool, needles and pattern from The Cutting Cloth in Melbourne.

I spent Thursday at the kids Gala day so was able to watch and knit for hours. Yesterday I had Miss 13 home sick with tonsillitis so I kept her company most of the day watching movies and knitting...this was my progress so far last night...

The wool is gorgeous it's Woolstok 100% wool and I'm using the colour Gravel Road . I been suffering with a bad head cold the last few days, which is a positive for my knitting lol
I made a huge pot of mummy's mince soup yesterday  and today I have a bit of baking to do for the kidlets, and my reward will be some hand sewing this afternoon...
Hope you all have a great weekend, happy stitching...

Cute buys...

I didn't purchase very much this year at Nundle...I do have a lot of wool etc from my Sue Spargo stash....but I did buy these three gorgeous patterns by Bonnie Sullivan. Two are kits and one is just the printed background. I totally love snowmen and always have primitive snowman around the house at Christmas.

I haven't touched our project from Nundle, I have been busy with a new design for frog cottage that I've been working on for a few months...  I am working on the last 36 blocks and then I will sew the top together...

I've been a good girl and have finished 3 quilt tops this year already ...yay me.. I took these quilts to Nundle for show and tell...

It's a west overcast day today...that means sewing for me yay !!!

Nundle 2017

What can I say!!! The 10th annual and yet final Girls Day in the country!! The tutor was Bonnie Sullivan and we had a gorgeous project to work on....what makes this annual weekend special is the friendships, laughter, and memories created through a love of needle and thread.....
Cant wait to see what our next adventure is ladies....love you all to bits!!!! Quilters Rock!!!!!

Countdown to Nundle

It's only two more weeks and I'll be heading to my annual Nundle retreat. So that means busy times, I need to make two swap items, one for the day and one for "our bloggers". Won't tell you which one I'm working on today...but It's something I've really wanted to make for myself, and this is the third time I've made it for a swap...cest la vie

Last week every spare moment, I worked on "fresh" a quilt designed by Camille Roskelley...this quilt is going to be HUGE...

I will have one very happy daughter when this is finished!!!

Focus and breathe

I've pulled out this quilt to finally finish it. Those that know me, know my love for handwork...I rarely sit in front of the machine...

The blocks in this quilt are 24.5".... And consist of 36 blocks...a slow process for me... I decided on 3 rows of 3, but after laying it on the floor for a final layout, I thought it needed to be bigger, so I've madly cut enough blocks for another 7 squares to make a 4x4 layout. This also means a new backing will have to be purchased as the current one will be too small. The things we do....

Wednesday 15 February 2017

Then there were two....

Ive been working hard this past week....

Back to Sarah Fielke 2016 BOM ... Top almost complete, just need to sew six more block then cut and sew borders ( already appliqués and pieced)..

Just waiting on my Sarah Fielkes 2017 BOM templates so I can start my new quilt.. I'm sure the universe is making sure I'll finish the 2016 first lol....

Orange peel overload

This week has been busy with a new visitor and kid activities. In between I have been sewing away on my villie fleurie quilt....nothing like orange peels everywhere. I still have a huge pile to go but at least I have sewn big piles too...too scared to count to see how many are left.....

The weather hit 48c yesterday and today it's only 41c with really strong winds...stay safe people :)
